Trenchless Sewer Repair and the Advancement of CIPP Lining

Trenchless sewer repair has transformed how sewer pipe issues are resolved, providing a cleaner and far less disruptive alternative to traditional dig and replace methods. At Gene’s Water & Sewer, we continuously adopt new technology as it becomes available so our customers benefit from quicker repairs and long lasting results. One of the most significant improvements in recent years has been the advancement of CIPP lining techniques and our move toward faster, more efficient curing systems.

CIPP lining, or Cured In Place Pipe lining, is a trenchless sewer repair method specifically designed for damaged sewer pipes. The process involves inserting a flexible liner saturated with resin into the existing pipe. Once positioned, the liner is cured in place, forming a smooth, seamless pipe within the original line. This restores structural strength, seals cracks and joints, and improves overall flow without the need for excavation.

In earlier years, Gene’s Water & Sewer frequently used Nu Flow as part of our CIPP lining services. Nu Flow is classified as an ambient cure product, meaning the liner hardens naturally over time. While effective, this method requires the liner to remain in place overnight to fully cure. Because of this, trenchless sewer repair projects using ambient cure systems often take one and a half to two days to complete, depending on pipe conditions and length.

As trenchless sewer repair technology has continued to evolve, we have improved both efficiency and turnaround time. Today, Gene’s Water & Sewer primarily relies on advanced UV cure CIPP lining systems. These systems use ultraviolet light to cure the liner from the inside, producing a durable and consistent pipe in significantly less time than ambient cure methods.

With UV cured CIPP lining, the curing process typically takes about an hour on average. This allows many sewer repairs to be completed within a single day instead of stretching across multiple days. Faster curing reduces downtime, limits disruption to daily routines and allows normal sewer use to resume much sooner. The controlled curing process also ensures uniform strength throughout the entire pipe.

While we still offer Nu Flow when specific conditions require it, ambient cure systems are rarely needed today. Our focus remains on delivering the most effective trenchless sewer repair solutions available, and modern CIPP lining technology allows us to do so with greater precision and efficiency.

At Gene’s Water & Sewer, our investment in advanced CIPP lining methods reflects our commitment to providing dependable sewer pipe repairs using solutions that are faster, cleaner and built for long term performance. Call us at 612-781-3737 or request a free estimate!
